The Barclays is a PGA Tour event that has been played in the New York area from 1967 through 2007 under a couple different names. Beginning in 2007, the tournament's name was changed to The Barclays, and the event would become the first of four "playoff" tournaments of the FedExCup series.
The tournament was usually played during June of each year, either the week before (in even-numbered years) or the week after (in odd-numbered years) the U.S. Open. The Barclays had its greatest attendance in 2001 when Tiger Woods participated, although two days of heavy rains disrupted play quite a bit.
During the same 1967-2007 time span, The Barclays had always been played at the same course, the Westchester Country Club in Harrison, New York. In 2008 the tournament switched to Ridgewood Country Club in Paramus, New Jersey, and in 2009 relocated again to Liberty National Golf Club in Jersey City, New Jersey. With a view of the New York City harbor and skyline, not to mention the Statue of Liberty, this was one breathtaking PGA Tour venue.
However, 2010 will see the event make a return to Ridgewood CC, before being played at Plainfield CC in Plainfield, New Jersey in 2011, with the option of returning back to New York, and its original home, Westchester CC in Harrison.

2010 Barclays Golf Tournament Winner
Martin Laird came in as second place at the Barclays Golf Tournament 2010 Leaderboard. Tied in third place were Steve Stricker and Kevin Streelman while tied on fifth place were Rory Sabbatini, Vaughn Taylor, Ryan Palmer, and Jason Day. Meanwhile, the world’s number one golfer Tiger Woods which led the leaderboard of the Barclays Golf Tournament 2010 during the first round tied for 12th place at 7-under. But Matt Kuchar was undoubtedly the winner of the title in course hole number 18 just 3 strokes away from Martin Laird’s 4.
2009 Barclays Golf Tournament Winner
Heath Slocum might have been the one player no one expected to win The Barclays. He was locked in a
tense battle over the final hour Sunday, August 30th at Liberty National with some of the
biggest names in golf such as Tiger Woods, Steve Stricker, Padraig Harrington and Ernie Els.
