Zurich Classic of New Orleans is a regular PGA Golf Tournament. It is played annually in New Orleans, Louisiana; it was always played in April, but was moved to March in 2008. It was previously known by many different names, the Zurich Classic has been around for a long time and now is called the Zurich Classic of New Orleans, the tournament was first played in 1938, and with the exception of gaps in the ‘40s and ‘50s, this event has been played in the Crescent City ever since.

From the event's inception through 2004, it was played at a series of courses in New Orleans. It began at New Orleans City Park, where it was played until 1962. In 2005, it was played at the TPC of Louisiana, but damage done to thecourse by Hurricane Katrina forced the event back to English Turn G&CC in 2006. It returned to the TPC of Louisiana in 2007. Now the Zurich Financial Services is the main sponsor of the tournament. The 2008 purse was $6,200,000, with $1,116,000 going to the winner.

Australian Stuart Appleby will join Sergio Garcia playing for the first time at TPC Louisiana in the $6.4 million Zurich Classic of New Orleans, announced Tommy Fonseca, tournament director and president of the Fore!Kids Foundation. Appleby was joined by Justin Rose, Stephen Ames, Tommy Armour III, John Merrick, and SEC collegiate champ Phil Schmitt in committing this week to play the Zurich Classic of New Orleans.

Billy Horschel wins his first PGA Tour Event at TPC of Louisiana. Horschel faced two final-round weather delays and a 27-foot putt he had to make on the final hole to avert a playoff.

2012 Zurich Classic Winner

Jason Dufner wins 2012 Zurich Classic in playoff over Ernie Els at TPC of Louisiana. Els had a chance for birdie on 18, but his putt came to a stop just an inch short of the cup, sending him into the clubhouse at 5-under for the day. Dufner fought hard to stay tight with Els: the Auburn grad nailed a 43-foot putt on 16 to stay at 19-under.

2011 Zurich Classic Winner

Bubba Watson defeated Webb Simpson in the playoff to win the 2011 Zurich Classic of New Orleans. The duo both missed birdie putt attempts on the par-5 18th on the final hole of regulation and went to the playoff.

2010 Zurich Classic Winner

Jason Bohn won his second PGA Tour event five years after his first when he led the Zurich Classic of New Orleans from wire to wire eventually winning by two over Jeff Overton.

2009 Zurich Classic Winner

After winning twice in 2002, Jerry Kelly traveled the PGA TOUR for seven years before earning his third victory. During an up-and-down Sunday in New Orleans, he rallied to win.
